1st Hellingly Scout Group was founded in 1911 which makes us one of the oldest groups in the country.
Thanks to the dedication and hard work of many volunteer leaders over the years we are lucky enough to have our own Headquarters building – ‘Crouch Hall’ situated next to Peake’s Gardens, Mill Bridge, Lower Horsebridge, Hailsham. We belong to the Hailsham and Heathfield Scout District, part of East Sussex County Scouts.
We currently have 5 Sections meeting through out the week following the school time table, with some exceptions. These consist of 2 Beaver colonies for our 6 - 8 years younger members, 2 Cub Packs for 8 -10 1/2 year olds, and our Scout troop for 10 1/2 - 14 year olds. We do not discriminate against anybody and both male and females are welcome in our group.
We also host the Hellingly Young Leader and Explorer Unit, allowing for our older members to continue with their scouting and Duke of Edinburgh activities.
